UDC aims to develop, manufacture and distribute its proprietary, high-efficiency PHOLED products in a safe, environmentally- and socially-responsible manner. The Company believes that the environmental, social and ethical performance of our suppliers is critical to our long-term success and sustainability. In furtherance of this belief, the Company is committed to responsible sourcing and ethical business practices.
Our PHOLED products are exclusively produced by PPG through a longstanding supply partnership since 2000. PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings and specialty materials, serving in the construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets and aftermarkets. PPG produces UDC products in their Monroeville, PA (MNVL) and Barberton, OH (BBTN) manufacturing facilities. UDC regularly visits and audits PPG’s manufacturing sites to review the quality, environmental, safety and working conditions of PPG’s production and procurement processes.
PPG has comprehensive systems in place for quality, environment, health and safety, sustainability (refer to PPG’s sustainability report), and social responsibility. A few relevant PPG highlights include:
- American Chemistry Council RCMS (EHS), re-certified in 2017 (MNVL/BBTN)
- ISO 9001:2015 (QMS), certified in Optical, Silica and OLED (BBTN)
- Secured access to facility (MNVL/BBTN)
- Wildlife Habitat Certified (WHC)
- Pillar Awards for Community Service, 1998, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2013 (CS and Environmental Stewardship) (BBTN)
PPG procures raw materials for the production of UDC’s PHOLED emitters from a network of suppliers around the world. UDC actively works with PPG to ensure that PPG and their suppliers meet PPG’s and UDC’s policies and requirements for quality, environment and social responsibility. UDC regularly audits PPG for compliance. Many of PPG’s suppliers for our PHOLED emitters are ISO 9001 or cGMP certified, and have an ever-increasing commitment to EHS principles.
UDC is committed to conducting socially responsible supply chain management. UDC works along with PPG to obtain commitments from our suppliers to conduct their operations in compliance with our Global Supplier Code of Conduct as well as PPG’s Global Supplier Code of Conduct.
UDC is also committed to designing, developing and producing products that use responsibly-sourced raw materials and minimize the use of hazardous/high profile chemicals. Specifically, existing UDC PHOLED products meet all Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC requirements and do not use or contain any Conflict Minerals. Refer to our Conflict Mineral Policy for further information. UDC also expects PPG and its raw materials suppliers to support UDC’s commitment in this area.
