Supply Chain
Universal Display Corporation (UDC, or the Company) aims to develop, manufacture and distribute its energy-efficient PHOLED products in a safe, and an environmentally- and socially-responsible manner. In furtherance of this belief, the Company is committed to responsible sourcing and ethical business practices throughout our supply chain.
We expect PPG, our exclusive manufacturer of UniversalPHOLED products, and their supply chain as well as UDC’s other suppliers and subcontractors to fully comply with all applicable laws and to adhere to internationally recognized environmental, social and governance standards. The Company’s Global Supplier Code of Ethics clearly states our expectations for every supplier and is referenced in our corporate purchase orders to all vendors.
PPG
PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings and specialty materials, serving in the construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets and aftermarkets, and has been UDC’s exclusive manufacturer of our PHOLED products since 2000. Today, PPG produces these products in its Monroeville, PA (MNVL) and Barberton, OH (BBTN) manufacturing facilities, and, as of 2022, is operating our newest manufacturing facility in Shannon, Ireland.
PPG has comprehensive systems in place for quality, environment, health and safety, sustainability (refer to PPG’s sustainability report), and social responsibility.
UDC regularly audits PPG’s manufacturing facilities to review their quality, environmental, and safety performances. UDC is developing a new program to audit PPG annually to confirm compliance with UDC’s (and PPG’s) policies and codes of conduct, including in the following areas:
- Human rights (including human trafficking and slavery), child labor, and conflict minerals;
- Health, safety and environmental sustainability (including spills, chemical releases and environmental contamination; significant health and safety incidents and notices of violations);
- Intellectual property protection;
- Criminal violations involving corruption, bribery or antitrust; and
- Processes to educate, train and audit employees regarding these policies.
PPG’s Supply Chain for UniversalPHOLED Products
PPG manages the supply chain for UDC’s PHOLED emitters. Many of these suppliers are ISO 9001 or cGMP certified, have a strong commitment to EHS principles and conduct their operations in compliance with the Company’s and PPG’s respective Global Supplier Code of Conduct. As of 2021, PPG included key suppliers into its EcoVadis program, for which PPG was awarded a Gold rating.
